Economy of Pleasure

The Economy of Pleasure is a performance about inhibitions and the attempt to achieve ”fun”. It comes in the form of a training facility where the visitors identify and work their way through their personal obstacles and fears connected to seeking rapture. Each visitor gets a personalized training program constructed to her specific needs. They are gently invited to practice in simulated training situations such as “Leave the bar”, “Dance on the table” and “Hang in a cool gang”. The training session ends with a rapturous re-enactment of the exercises in a safe but party-like milieu.

The Economy of Pleasure is for those who have the will to have fun but always settle for ”a nice time”. It is about admitting mortality and for a moment feeling alive.

The Economy of Pleasure was selected for the Swedish Biennale for Performing Arts 2013.
